Create a new account (hourly billing or project) for a client

Add a new billing account under an existing client for hourly billing or projects.

Create a new account (hourly billing or project) for a client

Each client can have one or more accounts to separate billing streams.

Steps

  1. Go to Client Accounts
    • Find the relevant client in the database.
  2. Select “Add Account”
    • Choose the Client this account belongs to.
    • Enter an Account Name that describes the workstream (e.g. “Corporate Projects 2025”).
  3. Fill out account details
    • Type: Hourly billing or Project.
    • Status: Active / Inactive – controls visibility on the Time Tracking page.
    • Category: e.g. Legal Services or Financial Services.
    • Primary Lead / Secondary Lead: who manages or delivers the work.
    • Engagement Letter Date: date of formal approval.
    • Profit Share: if the work qualifies for internal incentive tracking.
    • Contacts: list key people at the client (this is for internal reference only).
  4. Save the account

Once saved, the account is available on the Time Tracking page and in Hourly billing / Projects sections.

Tips

  • Use clear, client-friendly account names.
  • Don’t add “R” or “P” to codes — account type now defines that automatically.
  • Inactive accounts remain stored but hidden from active tracking.
